Clothing Study: Tammy’s Boatneck Top
onNow that I learned what necklines are and what boatnecks are called, this study is figuring out Tammy’s boatneck top since drawing the folds around the chest has bothered forever. It’s that important the proper term for something since it makes it loads easier to search for references online.
The cleaned-up “Original” is how I usually draw them, but moving forward I’ll go with “most boob lines erased”. Looks “more correct” and cleaner to me. If I can turn back time I’d go with “shortened top + bra” since it looks more interesting and fits Tammy’s style more.
The rest are trying out different ways boobs covered by this particular shirt would look like (assuming they’re wearing a bra, because some people have pointed out she doesn’t seem like she’s wearing any) or with sheers applied.
Believe me or not, I have explained in our Discord that I don’t usually think about bras when drawing female characters (I’m a guy, so sue me) so I often forget about drawing the bra straps, but I draw the boobs as if they’re wearing a bra… most of the time. While doing this study, I’ve learned about the existence of balconette bras. With its wider-set straps and my current knowledge, that would be the bra I would use with this outfit though her shirt needs to be less wider for it to work.
Finally, the last row is just for fun and no one learned anything and that’s perky-fectly fine. 😏
