Website Changes 7/23/2018

Some changes I’ve recently made:

  • Removed all Project Wonderful ads. RIP PW! Replaced them with some Google Adsense ads though, but they’ll only show up in-between blog posts when you’re browsing through the homepage, archives, or search pages! These new ads do not show up to NomAds.
  • Ads inside blog posts aren’t shown to NomAds too thanks to the Ad Inserter plugin. I had to do this manually, so if you’re a NomAd and notice that I missed one, please let me know!
  • Removed some blog posts about the old Magicat Girl updates, and some announcements regarding Livefyre, the old (and dead) comment system Cat Nine was using before changing to Disqus.
  • Reorganized the Categories and Tags of ALL of Cat Nine’s blog posts. The Blog Categories widget on the left sidebar (visible on the homepage) is longer now, but more useful!
    • My Art and its sub-categories contain all things that I’ve drawn. One of the reasons that I wanted to reorganize is so I can post non-Cat Nine art to the Others category.
    • Some posts will be present in multiple categories.
  • Lazy images activated! Images will now only load if you scroll down and see them instead of loading all the images in a website. In other words, the website should be a little faster!
  • Deleted Locations for the past comics since no one really uses it. I used it in the past so I can look up locations to use as a reference, but since I already keep HD versions of my own comics in a folder, it just made it redundant.
  • https://cat-nine.net/episode/episode-5-eclipsed/ is now https://cat-nine.net/episode/episode-5/. I don’t really know who else uses those pages, but Google might. It is a useful way to see thumbnails of the comics in an Episode though!
  • Removed social media buttons in the menu bar.
  • Added social media widget in the left sidebar.

Episode 6 Poll

Patrons can now vote on the Episode 6 poll where you (well, patrons) can decide what the next Episode is gonna be! Some patrons found the keywords for the poll too vague, so now you can see their synopses here!

Everyone else can vote on the community poll below. Again, it’s only for fun though since I’ll only consider the results from what the patrons voted.

Learn art, the Lazy way – Part 1: Experiment!

This was originally going to be a post about the pros and cons between self-taught and taking classes, but I’ve decided to concentrate on educating yourself since I don’t have much experience with classes even with the few years in college taking Multimedia Arts. I do consider myself lucky that I had a Freehand Drawing professor who taught us concepts from the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain (Amazon affiliate link), which now I own myself. It’s a literal lifechanger and I’ll always recommend reading it if you haven’t yet!

I do suggest attending classes/lessons/courses if they’re available, but it can be hard to tell if the teacher will be good. In some cases, it might actually make your art worse, so be careful!

Anyway enough about me, onwards with the post!

Handy Myany 4

Sooo, my family and I was supposed to go on vacation until June 12, but the flight was cancelled so uh, here’s the finished page at last!

We’re gonna try to fly again in a few hours, but ohhhh boy. We had to leave at 2 am and the trip to the airport took 2 hours, the trip back took what, 4 hours cause it’s the rainy season over here now, so some of the streets are flooded.

If the flight is cancelled again or some other unpredictable situation happens again, we’re just gonna give up on the vacay cause it’s just not meant to be I guess!
