215 – Collar 2.0
Actually finished Feb 2, but eh, I’ll count this as a January comic page…
Myan’s cat-sized collar grows/shrinks when she transforms, so it’s too small for normal humans (and wifwolves) to use. I guess you can try attempting to wear it that tight, if you’re kinky enough.
Also included in the WIP page is an alternate thumbnail for the 4th panel, with Haliya doing something to Tammy power up the collar.

Hibi-Hibi: Hold out your arm...
Hibi-Hibi: Bap! And done! Now you can use it, but Haliya still has to power it up.
Tammy: That's quick! So, what's she going to do?
Haliya: With the moon's luminescence, we bless our agimats*. Usually, it will take at least a few nights to imbue them... if I'm not involved.

Hmm, would wearing the masks help or hurt against the bright light?
Someone actually asked in FB if he’ll need a welding mask for what Haliya’s going to do. Here’s what I said:
Mind you, I haven’t exactly decided how much moonlight is needed to bless or enchant something, though it would make sense that more powerful items will need more time soaking in moonlight.
Well what I was curious about is: the masks help them see in the dark, right? So if it was really bright out would the masks make that even brighter, like they just amplify all light? Or do they filter light to an appropriate level, so if it gets really bright out the light seen through the mask won’t be as bright? Or do they only make it easier to see in the dark, so in bright light they are just normal masks?
Ah I… see, heh.
These masks (and the “natural” night vision Haliyans have) are magical, so it allows them to see in complete darkness without needing to light, without needing light amplification unlike with reality. To be clear, bright things won’t look brighter, and they they don’t need to remove their masks if it’s sunny.
I was thinking of this from the Haliyan’s perspective. While they’re nocturnal, it’s reasonable to assume that some of them will need to be awake during the day. It’s ridiculous if they’re blinded by it’s merely sunny outside, or indoors with simple lightbulbs after all! Everyone gets blinded by directly looking at bright light or the sun though, like in real life.
Also related, I just remembered I made a blog post about this. While it allows them to see in the dark, the colors they’ll see will be muted (if it’s in the dark) depending on how dark it is.
