Collar specs 1/3: Primary transformation powers
Oh man this took sooo long. And regardless of a pandemic going on, it’s back to work for me!
Originally this one was super long, but Clip Studio (and my computer) couldn’t handle the large size, so I’ve split this thing into three parts.
I might make a separate blog-type post for this later so the info will be easier to look up.
Something I’ve wondered…
Does Myan’s collar change her biology, or just her appearance? She has a huge crush on the lion at the zoo; we know this. So what would happen if they mated? Would Myan even be able to? And if so, what would the kids be like? Would they be some sort of hybrid, or would they match whichever form Myan is in when she goes into labor? (Like, if she mated with the zoo lion, but was in catgirl form at labor, or in full-cat form, or in any other form? If she was in catgirl form, would the kids be humans, catpeople, lion-cat hybrids, or what else would they be?)
It changes her physically. I mean, if she transformed into a human from a cat, her tiny cat organs wouldn’t be able to keep up at all.
Uh, only if she transformed into a big cat like a lion or tiger. I also have to depict her realistically (e.g. lion-sized) since I keep drawing her as cat-sized when she transforms into other felines. I dunno, I just think it’s cute.
First of all, this is just a cute slice-of-life webcomic so I didn’t have nor want to think about this. I also know questions like this are gonna pop-up whenever transformation or shapeshifting comes up. So all I can do is answer them with what I can come up with the moment, so bear with me if I change my mind later.
To start with, shapeshifters can only impregnate or get pregnant if they transformed into the same or similar species, like a human with a human, or a lion with a lion or tiger (since ligers and tigons exist).
And then to actually answer your question, if let’s say she’s knocked up while in lion form, I think her baby should transform with her as well. So if she was a lion turning back into a cat, her baby would turn into a cat too, and vice versa.
My reasoning is the baby (or babies since animals usually have more than humans) is still essentially part of her body, and it’s to safeguard both the shapeshifter and their child.
Now, I have no idea yet what to do if they’re pregnant, and then they transform into other animals that doesn’t gestate, like birds and such, and vice versa. I feel like there’s should be an unwritten rule in-universe (or any universe for that matter) about transforming while pregnant anyway.
Alternatively, shapeshifters can’t transform at all while they’re pregnant. I think that’s pretty easy to justify as a writer, and it’s way safer for the shapeshifter and their children.
If Tammy is still were-cursed after this, she’s going to demand that Hibi-Hibi take the full time to create her transformation jewelry, I’m sure.
And Hibi-Hibi is likely to go along with that if for no other reason than Tammy has an established appearance that doesn’t include canine ears!
Well, Tammy would be happy enough with transforming her clothes and hairstyle.
Isn’t more than half of pokemon based either on some real animal or some existing mythology?
Yeah. In that case, I’d rather just transform her into that animal or mythical creature.
